Why Value Stream Mapping?
Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is a useful and powerful tool to gain understanding on how your processes and operations are functioning, and to develop a plan to improve.
This course is targeted at those looking for, or charged with finding, opportunities to improve operational performance. It may be from a desire to improve on-time-in-full delivery (OTIF), to reduce lead times/ increase stock turns, to remove waste and improve productivity, or perhaps to make operations simpler and easier day to day.
Value Stream Mapping can map a wide range of business processes.
While usually applied to manufacturing operations, it is capable mapping any routine business process due to its flexibility and power.
The application of Value Stream Mapping to any situation must be adapted each time. The way organisations run, the variables that can be controlled, the types of improvements that can be made, and the barriers to change are different in each scenario.
Our trainer has nearly 20 years of experience in applying Value Stream Mapping to different industries and operational environments. In that time a quite a few things have been learnt about successful Value Stream Maps. Benefit from his experience and knowledge of how to best map your processes, avoid the traps and pitfalls of the technique, and be guided on the most likely areas of opportunity in your organisation.
Through the use of practical exercises to illustrate real life scenarios, case study examples of challenges faced and the solutions used to overcome them, this course will take you through the steps of creating current and future state Value Stream Maps, including a range of other mapping and analytical tools that compliment Value Stream Mapping to reveal the source of issues and problems that need to be addressed in order to improve your organisation’s operational performance.
